Timor-Leste Counselor Attends Thailand National Day Reception

Tokyo, 4 December 2025 — Counselor of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Japan, Mr. Celio Moniz, participated in a reception held at the Okura Heritage Hotel, Tokyo, to commemorate the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, Thailand’s National Day, and Father’s Day.

The reception commenced with a moment of silence in honour of Her Majesty Queen Mother Sirikit Kitiyakara, who passed away on 24 October 2025 at the age of 93 following medical treatment. The late Queen Mother was the spouse of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the mother of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Japan, H.E. Witchu Vejjajiva, underscored the historical significance of 5 December for the Thai people and reaffirmed the longstanding and close relations between Thailand and Japan, built upon mutual respect and cooperation across various sectors.

The reception was attended by approximately 600 guests, including members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Japan, senior officials of the Japanese Government, representatives of the Japanese private sector, as well as members of the Thai community residing in Japan. Their presence reflected the strong people-to-people ties and the importance of diplomatic engagement in fostering friendship and cooperation among nations.

The participation of the Embassy of Timor-Leste in this commemorative event forms part of its continued engagement with the diplomatic community in Japan and its commitment to strengthening multilateral relations and mutual understanding.
