Tokyo, 31 October — H.E. Ambassador Viegas, accompanied by Embassy staff, Father Ambrosio, and students from Tokyo, participated in the commemoration of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day through a Holy Mass held at St. Ignatius Church, Yotsuya, Tokyo.

In his sermon, Father Ambrosio invited the congregation to remember and honor the souls of the saints, departed family members, and the national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the independence of Timor-Leste. He emphasized the importance of prayer for the deceased, particularly for those believed to be awaiting eternal rest.
During the Mass, prayers were also offered for Timor-Leste’s aspiration to become the 11th member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), reflecting the nation’s ongoing commitment to regional integration and cooperation.
The commemoration concluded with the symbolic scattering of flowers at the statue of the Virgin Mary, serving as a solemn tribute and a moment of reflection in remembrance of those who have passed.
