Tokyo, 22 August 2026 — The Embassy of Timor-Leste to Japan is pleased to announce the participation of Counselor Celio Moniz in the 3rd Japan-ASEAN Universities Exchange Meeting, a high-level forum convening senior academic leaders from Japan and ASEAN Member States to advance academic exchange, collaborative research initiatives, and professional development opportunities for emerging researchers across the region.
On behalf of Timor-Leste, Dr. Joviano da Costa, Rector of the National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL), delivered remarks highlighting the institution's history and its established cooperation with Japanese universities.

Dr. da Costa expressed sincere appreciation for Japan's continued support to Timor-Leste, with particular recognition of scholarship programmes enabling Timorese students to pursue Master's degrees, doctoral studies, and research programmes in Japan. He further conveyed Timor-Leste's strong aspiration to deepen and expand academic cooperation with Japan and fellow ASEAN Member States in the years ahead.

東京、2026年8月22日 — 在日東ティモール大使館は、セリオ・モニス参事官が第3回日本・ASEAN大学交流会議（Japan-ASEAN Universities Exchange Meeting）に参加したことをお知らせします。本会議は、日本とASEAN加盟国の学術指導者が一堂に会し、地域全体における学術交流、共同研究の推進、および新進研究者のキャリア開発機会の拡充を目的とした高度なフォーラムです。
東ティモールを代表して、国立東ティモール大学（UNTL）学長のジョヴィアーノ・ダ・コスタ博士が挨拶を行い、同大学の歴史および日本の大学との既存の協力関係について述べました。
