TOKYO, November 3, 2025 – Representing the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Tokyo, Mrs. Faviola Henriques da Cruz, Financial Administrative Technician, attended the Reporting Session and Closing Ceremony of the “Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs: ASEAN-Japan Sports (Football) x SDGs Exchange for Youth.”
Timorese Youth Participation
This year’s exchange program featured a dedicated delegation from the Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima School in Railaco. The delegation consisted of seven students accompanied by one supervisor, representing Timor-Leste in a series of sports and cultural activities aimed at fostering friendship and understanding through football and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Fostering Ties through Sports and SDGs
The program, organized under Japan’s youth exchange initiatives, provided a platform for Timorese students to engage with peers from Japan and other ASEAN nations. The exchange emphasized not only athletic excellence in football but also the importance of global collaboration in achieving the SDGs.
Mrs. Faviola Henriques da Cruz expressed her appreciation for the organizers and commended the students for their active participation and for being excellent young ambassadors for Timor-Leste.
The closing ceremony concluded with a reporting session where participants shared their experiences and the valuable lessons learned during their stay in Japan.
