TOKYO, November 9, 2025 – Representing the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Counsellor Celio Moniz attended the 73rd Anniversary Festival of the National Defense Academy (NDA) in Tokyo.
The ceremony was a high-level gathering attended by the Minister of State for Defense, H.E. Miyazaki Masahisa, and the Deputy Minister of Defense, Mr. Yamato Taro. Also in attendance were senior military officials, veterans, members of the diplomatic corps, and the families of NDA cadets.
A Celebration of Discipline and Leadership
The festival showcased the academy’s excellence in academic and physical training through several key activities:

In his official remarks, Minister Miyazaki Masahisa expressed his gratitude to the academy’s leadership, faculty, and cadets for their steadfast dedication. He emphasized that the NDA plays a crucial role in preparing the next generation of defense leaders to ensure national security.
The Minister also reaffirmed the Japanese Government’s commitment to strengthening defense education and fostering international cooperation, noting that these efforts are vital for maintaining regional peace and stability.
