Tokyo, 5 December — Counsellor Célio Moniz da Silva, together with the Labour Attaché of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Tokyo, Mr. João Mendonça, were invited to deliver a lecture at Kudan Pre-Secondary School as part of the Embassy’s public diplomacy and educational outreach activities.

The lecture addressed various topics related to Timor-Leste, including the historical relationship between Timor-Leste and Japan, cultural differences, and aspects of Timorese society that are of interest to the Japanese public. The session also provided broader insights aimed at fostering mutual understanding and cross-cultural awareness.

During the question-and-answer session, students actively engaged with the speakers, demonstrating strong interest through direct interaction and thoughtful questions. Their participation reflected a positive response to the presentation and curiosity about Timor-Leste.

Although modest in scale, the activity served as an important platform for the Embassy to introduce and promote Timor-Leste in Japan, particularly among younger generations. The event concluded with the presentation of Timor-Leste coffee to the school principal, followed by a group photo as a gesture of goodwill.
