Ambassador Viegas Visits Kochi Prefecture

KOCHI, 19–20 November — H.E. Maria Terezinha da Silva Viegas, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Japan, accompanied by members of the Embassy team, conducted a two-day official visit to Kochi Prefecture.

During the visit, the Ambassador held meetings with Timorese youth workers residing in Kochi, providing an opportunity for direct engagement and dialogue. The discussions focused on understanding their daily working conditions, living environment, and overall well-being, as well as listening to their aspirations and challenges while living and working in Japan.

In addition to community outreach, the Ambassador paid courtesy calls on local authorities, including the Honorable Mr. Seiji Hamada, Governor of Kochi Prefecture, and Mr. Ryugo Kuwana, Mayor of Kochi City. The meetings served to convey greetings from the Government of Timor-Leste and to reaffirm appreciation for the hospitality and support extended to Timorese nationals in the region.

The visit underscored the Embassy’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Timorese citizens abroad while strengthening relations with local governments in Japan.
