Tokyo, 10 June 2026 – Counselor Celio Moniz attended the Welcome Dinner held on the occasion of the NIKKEI Forum: The 31st Future of Asia, one of the region’s most respected platforms for dialogue on political, economic, and strategic cooperation across Asia.
The event commenced with a cocktail reception, followed by a formal dinner attended by distinguished leaders, policymakers, diplomats, academics, and business representatives from across the region. Prior to the dinner, participants were welcomed through opening remarks delivered by the President and CEO of Nikkei Inc., Mr. Nobuhisa Iida, followed by a keynote address by former Prime Minister of Japan, H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida.
Mr. Kishida highlighted the importance of regional and international cooperation in key areas including energy security, sustainable development, artificial intelligence governance, regional security, and stability in the South China Sea. He emphasized that stronger partnerships among nations are essential to addressing common global challenges and ensuring a peaceful, stable, and prosperous future for all.
The NIKKEI Future of Asia Forum continues to serve as an influential venue for exchanging perspectives on emerging regional developments and strengthening cooperation among governments and stakeholders throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
On the sidelines of the event, Counselor Celio Moniz had the opportunity to greet and engage with several prominent Japanese dignitaries. These exchanges provided a valuable occasion to strengthen diplomatic connections and reaffirm the friendly relations between Timor-Leste and Japan.
Among the distinguished figures met during the event were former Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister of Defense H.E. Mr. Shinjiro Koizumi, Minister of Finance H.E. Mrs. Satsuki Katayama, and Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications H.E. Mr. Hayashi Yoshimasa.
