The Chairperson of Committee E and the delegation of the National Parliament of Timor-Leste, accompanied by Adviser Célio and staff of the Embassy of Timor-Leste in Tokyo, visited a wastewater treatment facility operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Sewerage, gaining a first-hand look at the advanced systems Japan's capital uses to treat and manage its wastewater.

The visit took place at the Ariake Water Reclamation Center, a facility that also serves an educational role, raising public awareness of the importance of sanitation and water resource preservation through its permanent exhibitions. Through guided displays and technical demonstrations, the center illustrates how wastewater collected across the city is treated and returned safely to the environment.

For the Timorese delegation, the visit offered an opportunity to deepen its understanding of the best practices and technologies Japan applies in the sanitation sector. Beyond its technical value, the exchange reinforces the ongoing cooperation between Timor-Leste and Japan, opening space for future dialogue on water resource management and sustainable infrastructure development.
