Legal & Judicial Support

If you are facing legal challenges or are detained by local authorities in Japan, the Embassy provides:

Liaising with Japanese law enforcement to ensure fair treatment.
Providing a list of local legal representatives/lawyers.
Ensuring access to interpretation services during legal proceedings.
Notification of family members in Timor-Leste (upon request).

Document & Passport Emergencies

In the event of lost, stolen, or damaged travel documents:

Issuance of Emergency Travel Documents (ETD) for urgent return to Timor-Leste.
Assistance with reporting lost passports to Japanese police.
Guidance on replacing BI (Bilhete de Identidade) and other national IDs.
