Embassy of Timor-Leste in Japan
Nagasaki, 8 August 2026 — Counsellor Célio Moniz, together with representatives of foreign embassies accredited to Japan, participated in a floral tribute ceremony at Nagasaki Peace Park, held at the hypocenter of the atomic bombing.
The ceremony paid tribute to the victims who lost their lives in the atomic bombing of Nagasaki at 11:02 a.m. on 9 August 1945, while reaffirming the enduring importance of peace and the international community's shared commitment to a world free from nuclear weapons.
The solemn occasion also served as a reminder of the lessons of history and the collective responsibility of the international community to preserve the memory of the victims and ensure that such a tragedy is never repeated.
Through its participation, the Embassy of Timor-Leste in Japan reaffirmed its commitment to peace, remembrance, reconciliation, and international efforts toward a world free from nuclear weapons.
