
Tokyo, 4 December 2025 — Ms. Joaninha Godinho, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SKYRA KYLIAN & FUNAN SANTALUM, represented Timor-Leste at a regional business forum bringing together young leaders from ASEAN Member States and Japan. She was the sole participant representing Timor-Leste at the event, which focused on leadership, innovation, and sustainable economic development.
The three-day summit served as a platform for dialogue among emerging business leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the ASEAN region. Participants engaged in discussions on future-oriented leadership, responsible entrepreneurship, and the role of innovation in addressing regional and global challenges. The program also included a meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan and a roundtable discussion with members of the Japanese Parliament, providing participants with valuable insights into policy perspectives and regional cooperation.
During the forum, Ms. Godinho delivered a presentation entitled “Bio-Recycling Centers: Fertilizing ASEAN’s Future Sustainably.” Her presentation highlighted the importance of environmentally responsible business models and the role of bio-recycling initiatives in supporting long-term sustainable growth. She emphasized how such initiatives can contribute to environmental protection, economic resilience, and inclusive development within the ASEAN region.

Ms. Godinho’s participation reflected Timor-Leste’s growing engagement in regional economic and sustainability discussions, as well as the country’s commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs. Her contribution demonstrated how innovative business approaches from Timor-Leste can align with broader regional goals on sustainability and green development.
The participation also underscored the importance of ASEAN–Japan cooperation in fostering future business leaders who are equipped to address environmental and economic challenges.
