TOKYO, 2 December 2025 – Representing the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Japan, Counselor Celio Moniz attended the “Philippine Christmas Concert” held on Monday. The event was hosted by the Embassy of the Philippines in Tokyo and served as a platform to showcase Southeast Asia’s rich cultural heritage and festive traditions.

The concert featured world-class performances by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Singers, along with renowned Filipino artists including Ms. Beverly, Mr. Ron Bautista, Syncho, and the Japan-based group Himig Koenji.
In her welcoming remarks, H.E. Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, Ambassador of the Philippines to Japan, highlighted the unique “Paskong Pinoy” tradition. She noted that the Christmas spirit in the Philippines begins as early as September, marked by festive decorations and carols reflecting the warmth and resilience of the Filipino people.

The event was a significant gathering for the diplomatic community in Tokyo, fostering stronger ties between Timor-Leste, the Philippines, and the wider international community in Japan. Attendees included members of the diplomatic corps, the Filipino diaspora, and Japanese friends of the ASEAN mission.
The participation of the Timor-Leste Embassy underscores its ongoing commitment to cultural diplomacy and the strengthening of fraternal bonds within the Southeast Asian community in Japan.
