Visit to JR Central Facilities and Maglev Technology

Following the luncheon, participants visited the facilities of the Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) to gain firsthand insights into Superconducting Magnetic Levitation (SCMaglev) technology, one of the most advanced high-speed rail transportation systems in the world.

During the presentations delivered by Mr. Tomoki Seki, General Manager of the Maglev Systems Development Division at JR Central, and Mr. Keiichi Kagayama, Executive Director of JR Central, participants received a comprehensive overview of the Chuo Shinkansen project—a next-generation railway line set to connect Tokyo (Shinagawa), Nagoya, and Osaka utilizing magnetic levitation technology.

The Chuo Shinkansen represents one of Japan's most ambitious next-generation transport infrastructure projects, blending advanced technology, unprecedented speed, and regional connectivity.

The Chuo Shinkansen is designed to operate at speeds of up to 500 kilometers per hour, significantly enhancing transport efficiency and connectivity between Japan’s major urban hubs. The presenters also shared updates regarding the project’s progress, including construction challenges that have led to adjustments in the timeline for commercial operations, currently anticipated to begin in the mid-2030s.
