Sports Diplomacy: Embassy of Timor-Leste Discusses Preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026

Counsellor Célio received Mr. Takashi Masuda, Director-General of the Bureau of Asian Games and Asian Para Games from the Aichi Prefectural Government, at the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Tokyo — a meeting that reaffirmed the two sides' readiness ahead of one of Asia's largest sporting events.

During the meeting, discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and Asian Para Games, including coordination and support for the high-level delegation expected to attend these important sporting events.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both sides to ensuring smooth coordination and a successful participation for Timor-Leste in Aichi-Nagoya.

The Asian Games and Asian Para Games are taking place in 54 venues spread between Aichi and Nagoya, running from 19 September to 4 October and from 18 September to 24 October respectively. The event is expected to have the participation of more than 50 Timorese athletes.

The Embassy of Timor-Leste in Tokyo wishes every success to this event, and hopes that our athletes will do their best throughout the tournament.
