Timor-Leste Joins 330th ASEAN Committee Tokyo Meeting, Held for the First Time in Hiroshima

Hiroshima City, 7 August 2026 – Counselor Celio attended the 330th ASEAN Committee Tokyo (ACT) Meeting in Hiroshima, chaired by the Embassy of Singapore.

The meeting covered the adoption of the agenda and endorsement of the 329th ACT Meeting Summary Records, as well as exchanges on developments in Japan, regional issues including outcomes of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, and upcoming ASEAN programs.

The program featured a presentation on the Hiroshima–ASEAN Association (HAA) by Ms. Komatsu Setsuko, followed by testimonies from Southeast Asian Hibakusha on the impact of the atomic bomb and the importance of peace and a nuclear-free world. A lunch reception concluded the event.

Held in Hiroshima for the first time and supported by the HAA, the meeting was attended by the Mayor of Hiroshima, city council members, business representatives, and ASEAN students in Hiroshima.

The event is expected to strengthen ASEAN engagement and further enhance cooperation with Hiroshima in peace, education, economy, culture, and people-to-people exchange.
