TOKYO (2 June 2026) – Counselor Da Silva, representing the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to Japan, attended the official Welcome Dinner of the Island States Ocean Summit on Tuesday evening. The event served as the opening reception ahead of the main summit scheduled for 3–4 June 2026.

The summit, themed “Sustainable Ocean Action for Resilient Islands,” is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA), The Nippon Foundation, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, and UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission.

The high-level event gathered government officials and the diplomatic corps to strengthen bilateral ties and exchange views on ocean governance, climate resilience, and sustainable development. The Embassy’s participation underscores Timor-Leste’s commitment to active multilateral dialogue among island nations.
