Tokyo, 12 August 2026 — The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Japan expresses its profound condolences on the passing of H.E. Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR).
Counsellor Célio Moniz represented the Embassy of Timor-Leste in signing the Book of Condolences at the Embassy of the Lao PDR in Japan, conveying Timor-Leste's sincere sympathy and solidarity during this time of mourning.
As fellow members of the ASEAN family, Timor-Leste stands in solidarity with the Government and people of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues, and all those affected by this loss.
The Embassy of Timor-Leste in Japan joins the people of the Lao PDR in mourning the passing of H.E. Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane and honours his service and contribution to his country.
