TOKYO, 23 April 2026 – The Embassy of Timor-Leste in Japan received a courtesy call from Ms. Yamaginuma Rika, Head of the International Department of FUJISAN Chidama Festa WA, along with her staff. The purpose of the visit was to personally invite H.E. Ambassador Maria Terezinha Viegas to the “100 Million People’s Hitohachi Movement Rice Cultivation Festival,” which will take place on 24 May 2026 in Yamanashi Prefecture.
The meeting provided a wonderful opportunity for the Embassy to witness a demonstration of this meaningful tradition. The festival brings together people from diverse backgrounds and their families to plant rice, celebrating the start of the harvest season while contributing to humanitarian causes through post-harvest donations.
As a gesture of friendship and to signify the strengthening of relations between the two entities, Her Excellency gracefully presented a gift of Timor Coffee to Ms. Yamaginuma and her team.
