Embassy of Timor-Leste Discusses Worker Protection with OTIT Japan

– Mr. João Mendonça, Labor Officer at the Embassy of Timor-Leste in Tokyo, received representatives from Japan’s Organization for Technical Intern Training (OTIT), including Mr. OZAWA Hiroyuki, Director of the First International Affairs Division, and Ms. Tanaka Masako.


Labor Officer Mr. João Mendonça discussed the upcoming 2027 labor deployment program and enhanced rights protection with OTIT representatives.

The meeting focused on sharing pivotal updates regarding a newly designed labor program scheduled for implementation in 2027. This upcoming initiative aims to recruit and deploy workers from various partner countries to Japan. During the productive dialogue, both parties exchanged insights on the operational framework and critical policy measures required to ensure the robust protection of workers’ rights.

The Embassy of Timor-Leste in Tokyo remains steadfastly dedicated to safeguarding the welfare of Timorese workers and continues to actively address and resolve any employment challenges they may encounter in Japan.
