Embassy Welcomes Japanese Students for Cultural Exchange

Tokyo, 13 July 2026 — The Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Japan welcomed a group of students from Tokyo Metropolitan No. 4 Commercial High School for an educational visit designed to deepen their understanding of Timor-Leste's history, culture, and enduring friendship with Japan.

The students were accompanied by representatives of Tokyo International Exchange Concierge, Ms. Kaori Melichar and Ms. Wako Kozakura, as part of an initiative that promotes international learning and cultural exchange.

During the visit, Counsellor Célio Moniz and Third Secretary Egídio delivered a presentation introducing Timor-Leste's historical journey, cultural heritage, traditions, cuisine, and national identity. They also highlighted the longstanding partnership between Timor-Leste and Japan, emphasizing the close cooperation and mutual respect that continue to strengthen bilateral relations.

The interactive session gave students the opportunity to engage directly with Embassy officials, ask questions, and gain a broader understanding of Timor-Leste and its people. Through open dialogue and cultural exchange, the visit fostered greater appreciation of the shared values and friendship between the two nations.
