Tokyo, 28 May 2026– Ambassador Viegas attended a Zoom meeting with Gifu University’s Professor Dr. Hidekazu Fukui and student representatives. The meeting was held to discuss various matters regarding Timorese students currently studying at Gifu University under the JASSO scholarship.

During the discussion, Ambassador Viegas emphasized that one of his main priorities is to support students in need. He wants to ensure they have a smooth scholarship experience, allowing them to focus entirely on their studies and graduate without worries.
The meeting also highlighted the important role these students will play in the future. The knowledge and research experience they gain across different fields during their time in Japan are expected to highly contribute to the future development of Timor-Leste.
