TOKYO, 11 May 2026 – H.E. Ambassador Maria Terezinha Viegas participated today in a webinar organized by the Asosiasaun Estudante Timoroan iha Japaun (AETJ). In her remarks, the Ambassador expressed high praise for the students, recognizing their hard work, perseverance, and unwavering determination while pursuing their education in Japan.

The webinar served as a platform for University finalists and Master’s degree candidates to present their research across various critical fields, including economics, medicine, and agriculture. The discussions focused on how these academic insights can be implemented to influence and accelerate the future development of Timor-Leste.

Ambassador Viegas emphasized that Timorese students living abroad play a vital role as ambassadors of knowledge. By pursuing higher education and building academic connections with Japan, they inspire future generations to broaden their horizons and contribute to the national interest.

The Embassy hopes that such events will motivate more young Timorese to set ambitious goals and strive for academic excellence for the prosperity of the nation.
